WHAT OUR STUDENTS HAVE TO SAY
Family Van Medical Education Director, Bikash Verma, MD, works with the medical education institutions to provide medical and allied health students with supervised rotations aboard the Van to help inspire and train the next generation of family healthcare providers.

A second-year Harvard Medical student, Melissa Burroughs takes the blood pressure of 30 year old Dorchester resident Cornelius Hood. Burroughs returned to volunteer for a second year because she"really enjoyed the community and contact with community members". The van provided her with the chance to"apply the science(from her class lessons) to real-life interactions.

“The most essential thing that the Van taught me was the importance of health and how it affects every aspect of people's lives. They taught me about the problems faced by diverse and underinsured communities in Boston. I also leaned more about healthcare disparities, the trouble that lack of insurance can cause, and the general distrust of the American Medical System”
